"The Death of a Child Isn’t Just a Statistic:
A recent statement from UNICEF said that more than 1,000 children have been killed or maimed in Gaza in just 10 days. That’s over 100 children a day.

And yet, many people remain silent.

But the death of a child isn’t just a statistic.

It’s a name

A shattering of an entire family's world

It’s grieving parents who will never be the same again.

Traumatised siblings — if they survived.

A whole community bearing wounds that go far beyond the grave.

These aren’t numbers. They were kids — with favourite toys, giggles, little quirks that made their parents smile. Some had just started school. Others hadn’t yet said their first words - others had no school to go to because they have been destroyed.

When a child dies, something in the world changes. The future contracts. Time stops for someone, somewhere - and in Gaza right now, that moment is happening a hundred times a day.

You don’t need to have all the answers. You don’t need to know the full history.

But we can all recognise grief. We can all acknowledge when something is deeply wrong.

If you've felt unsure about speaking up — let this be a reminder - silence isn’t always neutral. Sometimes it’s just one more stone on a mountain of grief that’s already too heavy to bear.
